Berlin, June 2010: The fashion label KILIAN KERNER will present itself for the fith time at Mercedes- Benz Berlin Fashion Week on the 10th of June 2010 at 3pm. "I think it is vital that, even when times are hard, Berlin designers show themselves to industry specialists and demonstrate that the fashion world can always count on us," says Kilian Kerner with regards to his participation yet again.

The journey into the new summer collection was far from easy and the result with the title „Flieg zum Mond und bleib hier" („fly to the moon and don't go away") thus, makes even more of a statement. For this collection Kilian Kerner takes inspiration from the contrast in life. Emotional worlds with their ups and downs are mirrored in the designs.

"This season it was important to me to offer my clients a wide choice of wearable as well as the usual avant garde creations," says the designer, thereby explaining the newly available 50 piece Jersey collection. The simple garments excel through soft details of valance and cutting. These elements can be found in the main line too and alongside built in asymmetry, create the stylistic highlight.

The women's wear collection is elegant and soft and plays with hard, metallic contrasts. All over sequined pieces meet flowing silk creations. Short and long trousers as well as over sized tops dictate the collection just as well as figure hugging cuts and feminine dresses. The clashes continue even within the colour scheme. Soft, earthy, nude and beige tones encounter a dark, profound pallet of blue, black and metallic.

Men who opt to wear KILIAN KERNER next summer embody a mixture of dandy and sailor. Clear, classical tailoring meets lined patterns and fitted pockets. Asymmetry comes about through a playful division of seams in textiles like silk and cotton. Summery shorts state the way for the fashion conscious man and are combined by casual shirts as well as narrow coats.

This seasons approximate 50 outfits will be accompanied by a new, old music act. As a solo project, Ben Ivory, the singer of the band Splinter X will perform the collection's song: „fly to the moon and don't go away" for the first time at the show in July. The specially made Villeroy & Boch tile runway, with floral pattern and stripes on a white background, gives further support for a perfect performance.

The label KILIAN KERNER lives on emotions. The decision alone to make fashion his profession derives from Kilian Kerner’s passion for garments and the feeling that designing was at that moment the right thing for him to do.

Kilian Kerner (1979), was born and raised in Cologne. Before founding the label KILIAN KERNER in 2004 he studied drama in Cologne and Berlin between 2000 to 2003. The designs of his first collection „Überhaupt und Du“ showed him relying entirely on his intuition. With its 10th collection by now the label is celebrating its first small jubilee and possesses a great deal of know-know. Above all, imparting an emotional quality is what really sets the brand apart. KILIAN KERNER arises and works through emotions.

In the summer 2008 Kilian Kerner decided to show at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Berlin and come January 2011 will have shown here for the sixth consecutive time. The label has thus become a firm component of the German fashion industry and it has become unthinkable to erase it from Berlin fashion week’s calender.

Kilian Kerner’s ninth collection „Tagebucheinträge“ was chaperoned by the online platform Vogue.com. This three-piece video series about the young aspiring designer was a premier.
