Q1. Please outline your concept for AW11 and the reasons behind it.

THE LOOK
A reference to the elegance captured by the Seeberger Brothers, circa 1930

INSPIRATIONS
A return to elegant dressing and sartorial traditions with a cool forward edge

Sharp tailoring combined with easy chic outerwear, creating a lean look with rectangular and ovoid shapes

Classic signature tailored blazers with contrast Persina Lamb lapels
Belted pop-overs and unstructured jackets in technical wool

Q2. For this season, what fabrics are you paying attention to?

Classic Linton tweeds, boucle fabrics, technical wool, white , grey and navy raw denim
Merino wool knits with asymmetrical color blocking, trompe l'oeil effects and grosgrain trim


Q3. Please choose 3 key items from the collection and outline why you chose them.

- Popo_over Anoraks...It's chic and casual...wool has technical weather control properties
- Unstructured belted jacket with leather shoulder patch...technical wool that has weather control properties
- Cape with Hoddie ...It's practical and cool...also wool has technical weather control properties

Q4. Please tell us what things are important to you when thinking of a new design.

New Lines and items that are in line with a.a. aesthetics, our vision of where menswear is headed towards. A classic reference but forward way of interpreting them. It revisits sartorial traditions and iconic items in a man's wardrobe but pushed boundaries.


Q5. What do you think of fashion in Japan?

Fashion in Japan is very exciting and great place for designer labels to have their designed appreciated and worn.


Q6. Is there any news of your brand?

For S/S 11 we are looking at focusing on signature items including accessories, that are important key items in a man's wardrobe. We are planning to initiate a second tiered collection of key items that are essential items at opening price points...and looking to partner with investors and business partner to grow this business to a larger scale. We are working on a few collaborations but cannot say yet what they are.

Antonio Azzuolo

Prior to launching a. a. Antonio Azzuolo served as design director for Ralph Lauren Purple and Black Label where he dedicated his time to concept and design. Earlier Azzuolo worked for over ten years at high-end New York and Parisian design institutions such as Hermès and Kenzo.

Having worked in such diverse environment within the fashion industry Azzuolo brings to his a. a. line a cultivated design and luxury goods aesthetic as well as a market-driven methodology of work.

A native of Montreal Azzuolo graduated from Ryerson University in Toronto where he received his B.A.A. in Apparel Design with a specialization in Men’s Tailoring. After graduation Azzuolo moved to Milan from where he participated in and won first place in the menswear category at the ”Festival des Jeunes Stylistes de Hyères”. This award presented him with an opportunity to relocate to Paris where he launched his professional career.
