Q1. Please outline your concept for AW11 and the reasons behind it.

i recently read the book "orlando" from virginia woolf. shortly afterwards, saw the film starring tilda swinton. then the film "easy virtue" from noel coward... that brought us to the song "mad about the boy." and there just seemed to be this need to do something completely different, contradictory, unexpected.... masculine and feminine. black and white. light and heavy. fluid and static. it was a lot of fun.

Q2. For this season, what fabrics are you paying attention to?

we took the opportunity to incorporate some fabrics in our collection that we have always dreamed of using for many, many years. a heavy luxurious satin duchesse in black and white, block stripes in black, chocolate and taupe. striped cotton stretch shirting fabric. stretch leather. cashmere. fur.

Q3. What role does color play in your AW11 collection?

this season, color remained cool and sparse. black, chocolate, taupe, white, beige, with a splash of rosewood, bordeaux and poppy...

Q4. Please choose 3 key items from the collection and outline why you chose them.

the backwards boyfriend shirt dress, integrated necktie striped blouse, black cotton trousers and black silk satin hat, draped column dress double satin black and white long dress. they seemed to reflect the whole attitude of the collection...

Q5. Please tell us what things are important to you when thinking of a new design.

it has to reflect the way we feel. if it does not come from the heart, it's probably not going to be a very good piece.

Q6. What do you think of fashion in Japan?

the japanese are a very fashion driven people, open for everything. i hope that we will soon have a customer there.

Q7. Is there any news of your brand?

god, there is so much going on right now. our first corner opening at neiman marcus (i'm flying to the states tomorrow for the grand opening). we are selling to harvey nichols in london now. we were just in hanoi vietnam 2 weeks ago for the grand opening luala.

Q8. Finally, please give us your thoughts on our website JAMOOL.

to be honest, i never really took the time to look at JAMOOL until just a few minutes ago. i have to say, i'm impressed. great site. beautiful photographs. totally cool... i added it immediately to my favorites list. :)

johnny talbot born 1964 in nashville tennessee usa studied electrical engineering and worked as systems manager for the u.s. government before he decided to become a fashion designer.

adrian runhof born 1963 in mainz germany studied business administration after growing up in a family of fashion producers and retailers and worked every since in the fashion business.

talbot and runhof met in 1991 in munich. discovering their mutual passion for fashion they decided to join forces and began designing collections together. in the year 2000 the label talbot runhof was launched.

„it’s all about knowing where to stop“ - going too far can be as bad as not going far enough. it turns out that this is not only good advice when designing but has become our life philosophy.

the best way to describe the customer is to describe the collection. talbot runhof is known for its subtle elegance. with almost every piece the most astonishing detail is usually one that you find after a second glance. it’s not obvious but once you find it you are all the more impressed by the overall beauty. our customer is the same.
