We Love Lucy

she was born in 1911, one of the most admired, adored tv and film personalities that ever lived. in real life as lucille ball or on tv as lucy ricardo, she was strong, savvy, sassy, sensitive and sexy. constantly getting herself into the most absurd of situations and cleverly maneuvering a way out. an actress, a model, a comedian, a fashion icon...

what might she look like? how would she style her hair? her make-up? what would she wear to a job interview? what would she wear for dinner and dancing? when she has lunch with her friends on robertson? when she goes for a swim at the château? when she goes shopping? goes to work?

we begin our show with a series of day dresses; demure necklines that at first glance seem typical for the time. at second glance, pattern making at its most intricate. bodices flow into sleeves, drapes transform into skirts, dress fronts seamlessly flip into backs... colors of sepia, chocolate and grey painted on a canvas of stretch linen, stretch taffetas, super light-weight stretch panama wool. skirts are raised to an empire level, either flirty and flouncy (above the knee) or long and lean (mid-calf).

the show continues with a series of cocktail dresses: subtle embroideries reminiscent of black and white tv's fuzz and test pattern... white cotton batiste tinted with a precious grey embroidery, cotton guipure lace iced with transparent sequins, grey floral jacquard with black sequin embroidery, microfibre moiré jacquard woven on vintage abraham looms lending a modern technical flair to a classic couture fabric.

finally, cocktail dresses and gowns in lush golden marceline from taroni, pure silk satin duchesse with degradé inkjet print and laser-cut, inkjet printed, sequin embroidered double layer mousseline.

you know, johnny's earliest childhood memories involve lucy. when he moved to germany over 20 years ago, he was horrified to learn that adrian knew nothing of her. after a brief introduction, he was completely enchanted; an instant fan... so, we decided to pay tribute to this wonderful lady. happy 100th birthday, lucy. we love you.

johnny talbot born 1964 in nashville tennessee usa studied electrical engineering and worked as systems manager for the u.s. government before he decided to become a fashion designer.

adrian runhof born 1963 in mainz germany studied business administration after growing up in a family of fashion producers and retailers and worked every since in the fashion business.

talbot and runhof met in 1991 in munich. discovering their mutual passion for fashion they decided to join forces and began designing collections together. in the year 2000 the label talbot runhof was launched.

„it’s all about knowing where to stop“ - going too far can be as bad as not going far enough. it turns out that this is not only good advice when designing but has become our life philosophy.

the best way to describe the customer is to describe the collection. talbot runhof is known for its subtle elegance. with almost every piece the most astonishing detail is usually one that you find after a second glance. it’s not obvious but once you find it you are all the more impressed by the overall beauty. our customer is the same.

beside their own 3.500 square foot boutique in the heart of munich, talbot runhof can be found in the best boutiques all over the world, including leading american department stores bergdorf goodman, neiman marcus and saks fifth avenue. talbot runhof, renowned for their unusual workmanship fusing exquisite couture techniques with unparalleled simplicity in cut and form, is produced exclusively in germany in their own workshops.

in 2005, talbot runhof was awarded the german fashion award. since 2006, talbot runhof is showing regularly in paris during paris fashion week.
