Q1. What was the inspiration for this collection?

Our search for an upstate cabin in the woods surrounded by forever wild land, streams, and lakes. Movies like "Into the Wild" and "A River Runs Through It".

Q2. Where was the show/presentation held?

New York Mercedes Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center. We were the opening show.

Q3. What sort of fabrics did you use?

Silk velvets, mongolian lamb fur, sheepmere handknit cables, corduroy, washed leather, brushed flannels, sandwashed silks.

Q4. What colors were important for this season?

Textured black, hunter green, rust orange, mud brown, and winter white.

Q5. Tell us about the silhouette.

Long drapey skirts and dresses, relaxed slouchy thermal bottoms, fitted jackets and tops or long a-line jackets. Oversized sweaters with finger holes. I think finger holes should be in all sweaters, better than making your own.

Q6. What music was playing in the show/presentation?

Q7. Do you have a favorite piece in the collection?

The black cotton long a-line jacket with high collar and completely lined in black mongolian fur...

Q8. What is your design process?

Creating a design board, then putting together a color palette and conceptualizing the sillouettes. Then I usually break it down and start thinking of the outerwear pieces first and layering down. Sometimes, there is no real process and I might sketch a dress first that inspires the entire collection or an item. Usually you just have to start somewhere and everything else will follow.

Q9. Is there any news of your brand?

Recently launched an e-commerce site on our home page that features more specialty peices that our stores don't normally order. It is also our second season opening and showing at Lincoln Center.

Q10. Finally, please tell us the major boutique selling your collection around the world.

Harvey Nichols Hong Kong, Ron Herman, Atrium, Blue and Cream, TNT, CVG showroom, Jades, The Tannery.

NYのFITを卒業後、フィレンツェにあるThe Polimoda School of Designを卒業。帰国後、「DKNY」に入る。その後「Coach」のメンズスポーツウエアチームに初期メンバーとして参加。「Nautica」「Calvin Klein」「Tommy Hilfiger」や「Polo Ralph Lauren」といったメゾンと仕事をし、2003年1月に、自身のブランド「NICHOLAS K」を設立。いくつもの大きなメゾンでの経験を生かし、様々な消費者ゾーンのニーズを理解することが出来るのが「NICHOLAS K」ブランドの強みである。

Nicholas の兄である Christopherは、「Nicholas K」のビジネス(企業経営）面を統括。Christopherは生物化学と細胞分子生物学の学位を取り、その後マーケティングでMBAを習得。「Nicholas K」設立以前は、Los Alamos国営研究所にて専門知識を生かしつつ、マーケティングアナリストとして活躍。また、「Polo Ralph Lauren」でモデルや販売の経験もある。

2003年1月、兄妹であるNicholasとChristopherによってNYを拠点に設立。モダンクラシックなテイストの都会的な男女をターゲットに、ワードローブの必需品となるようなブランドを目指す。洗練された現代的なテイストとダウンタウンエッジィを持ち合わせた従来のクオリティとデザインを組み合わせ、レディース、アクセサリーに加え2006年にメンズラインをスタートさせる。アメリカと日本を合わせて35店舗の高感度なセレクトショップで展開。2009年2月、初のランウェイを NYコレクションにて発表。
