KONRAD PAROL 2011 AUTUMN/WINTER SEASON - BRAND Q&A
Q1. Please outline your concept for AW11 and the reasons behind it.
My last autumn winter collection LES MERCENAIRES is the next rebeliant uncover of my vision. This time it is much more conscious and mature. LES MERCENAIRES are the 21st Century contestants. The subject of rebels and outsiders, presented in collections for several seasons, this time was reinterpreted in a more contemporary way. The starting point for designing the collection was a romantic rebel fighting for a just cause. I propose a figure that is rough and geometric. It is dominated by architectural forms and the asceticism of the line. The seemingly drab colors have been broken by strong and orange accents. The whole perfectly harmonised with the industrial space of factory where the premiere took place and touchy sounds composed by PLEQ.
Q2. For this season, what fabrics are you paying attention to?
What characterize my style is a form and great quality; the clothes were made of high quality fabrics: flockcotton looks like leather this grey one, very soft black calf leather and checkered wool and wool melange.
Q3. What role does color play in your AW11 collection?
The last collection I put on the form, sharp cutting and the structure, which is why I resigned from color. Limited myself to the orange that is only accentuated. I played with a form of coats and jackets, modifying them didn't want to further distract the viewer with sharp colors. So I focused on a neutral gray and black
Q4. Please choose 3 key items from the collection and outline why you
chose them.
Difficult task, all projects are treated personally and it is hard to decide on the concrete. It's as if I had identified one of the children and give them love, especially ignoring the rest.
I chose 3:
The first is the Teaser coat, which was the first completed project. He gave rise to this collection. It is also a bridge between the previous collection with the latest. I always try to move seamlessly from one collection to the next, I try to be a continuation of style and my thoughts.
Another favorite feature is the Prins coat. The combination of jacket with apron, so I wanted to have it and I can't wait to see when he'll be able to wear it. As the saying goes, "the shoemaker without shoes," I am afraid I will not have time to sew a copy for yourself .... ;)
The last one is but not least favorite part is the most characteristic of the whole collection is Beekeeper Coat;) I really like its form and the cape hood cap, I would like to make it more open and courageous men to wear a coat on the street. Perfect for bank robbery hahahaha... just kidding.
Q5. Please tell us what things are important to you when thinking of a
new design.
Whenever I think about the new project is the form and structure. I like to look to introduce something new and different, but in the first place is always a man for me .I believe in the rule „The man comes first, the idea comes second." I don't have to look far to find my inspiration: I always started to listen to my own needs, focus on who I am, what I dream of and how I would like to be understood. My clothes want to amaze and be admired, they wants to grab attention and positively inspire the surroundings. I will not invent the wheel, for sure, that is why I always think out of the box, I am trying to give old shapes a totally new life, and meaning.
I'm always looking for what I need at the moment, what's my biggest desire. More precisely, I am the focal point of everything that surrounds me. Everything depends from a moment, time of the day, my mood. My needs are what's most important and they are the ones that push me in the right direction and bring me ideas of what to design next.
Everything that I create evolves around me, or a person like me.
Q6. What do you think of fashion in Japan?
OMG .. I love Japan and your culture, way of being, your traditions and way of dressing. Your freedom, imagination in creating the image is very inspiring for many artists, including designers. My first ever collection, which was my high school diploma was inspired by your culture. With such naturalness and freedom treat fashion, which many envy you. I deeply regret that I have never been in Tokyo, but maybe it's about to change soon ;)
Q7. Is there any news of your brand?
From the news I can tell that this week we have completed a new session with a very intimate and romantic, was also witty ad, which will have its premiere at Dick zine Magazine in states.
In preparation is also another SS2012 collection, which will be more women's models as well as accessories. Don't forget about men who are for me the most important and constitute the essence of design.
Q8. Finally, please give us your thoughts on our website
JAMOOL.
I admit that recently I discovered your website, my stylist who is absolutely in love with japan at all in Asia, showed me your site about six months ago. I am delighted with your portal. It is very clear, publishes a lot of pictures and information sessions are not included on other portals. Also, as much respect as you don't publish everything, you have your own unique style that celebrates. Our sense of aesthetics is very close to each other. But I love you specially for that when I go on your site I feel I am in a candy store, where they are just my favorite flavors and I don't know which one to select and eat all ;))
